Our focus is Wind Power, also the focus of King Lear, in this famous Shakespearean soliloquy:

"Blow, winds, and crack your cheeks! rage! blow! You cataracts and hurricanoes, spout Till you have drenched our steeples ... Strike flat the thick rotundity o' the world!" - William Shakespeare, King Lear, 3.2.1
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/wb9KMnzzAII&rel=0" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/wb9KMnzzAII&rel=0</a>

This forum is in beta.  Our rules are simple (see below).  Our mission is simple - Energy Independence - along the lines suggested by T. Boone Pickens at http://PickensPlan.com.  That is, get right down to the important business of building out our wind, solar and vehicular natural gas infrastructure and technology, as bridges to TOTAL energy independence.

It makes great sense to attack Energy Policy issues with this singularly war-time sense of urgency and focus.

Like Boone and Shakespeare's King Lear, none of us should go gently into that Good Night!  The mission is clear.  For our children, grandchildren, our country (still the world's last best hope), Boone's legacy and our own, the time for changing our Energy Policy and practice is now.  Boone's good fortune, multiple billions of dollars and his www.PickensPlan.com army should enable him to carry the ball a good distance down the field but the game will not be won without our excercising good leadership in all its forms.

W. Edwards Deming said Change is not necessary.  Survival is optional.  So, when Boone says "we can't drill our way out of this problem" I believe it is with the credibility of an oil man and a geologist, who has opted for the survival of that which he holds dear.

We need to put wind in his sails as he does ours.  It's not all about money.  It will take money, influence, communication, organization, ingenuity, invention, good leadership, teamwork and all of the blessings that flow from liberty.  We can harness the energy of the Wind Belt and the Sun Belt with our farms, our land, our technology, our natural resources and our Yankee Ingenuity.

www.WLAB.com Wind Lab resources are available in this same spirit and we also like to invoke the spirit of Johnny Appleseed which is captured by the Joe Strummer song of the same name:
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/mqEOOvoEi_w&rel=0" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/mqEOOvoEi_w&rel=0</a>

As to site architecture, EasternGrid.com, WesternGrid.com & FarmerGrid.com now point to this site and may be pointed directly to boards here with those specific names after the site gets out of beta (projected for the Fall of 2008).  GoodGrounds.com & LicensingWorks.com may point here eventually as well.

One of the many benefits of the Pickens Plan will be economic revitalization for many parts of rural America. Wind energy means good jobs in construction and maintenance, and a new source of income for landowners.

Here's the story of one small town that was saved by the arrival of a major wind project.

Imagine zooming in to the heart of your Natural Splendor, Wind Belt, Solar Mine, Ocean Floor, Geothermal, WineTrail or other property using a combination of Nasa World Wind, Nasa World Wind's Blue Marble software, cut to you and your JonesCAM, walking (or, better still, mountain biking) the metes and bounds of your farm, showing off its (wind, solar, biomass, , hydro, fill-in-the-blank) attributes to their best advantage.  We could organize a cadre of bmx or mountain bike mounted videographers and World Wind developers to do something like that.  It might be fun to try.

Dear Mr. President-elect:

W. Edwards Deming, the man who rebuilt Japan's infrastructure after WWII, offers what I believe should be your governing philosophy where it concerns Energy Policy:

"Change is not necessary.  Survival is optional."

Our Energy Infrastructure is in need of major overhaul.  Build the bones Mr. President-elect and your legacy will be secured.

Fordham University has a great Deming Scholars MBA program.  Task them to guide an Energy Infrastructure Mission as honest brokers for Uncle Sam.

Best wishes for a successful administration. Excelsior, Mr. President-elect.  Upwards.  You CAN recapture the good will and political capital squandered by Mr. Bush & Company.

Excelsior,
